Tungnath trek

 Tungnath ( tung means arms ) is the highest lord shiva temple in the world situated in chandranath parvat chopta in rudrapryag district of Uttarakhand.It is the third Kedar(tritya kedar) of the panch kedars. It is highest but the easiest one to trek. It is considered to be more than1000 years old and discovered by Adi Shankaracharya. The temple is dedicated to lord shiva and few other idols of goddess Parvati. The temple is surrounded by meadow and gives a panoramic 360-degree view of Himalayan peaks like Chaukhamba , Trisul parvat, Panchchali peak and Nanda Devi peak. It is around 3-4 km long trek starting from chopta market, it will take approx. 2-3 hours to complete the trek.  Madhyamaheshwar is located in the district of Rudraprayag .It is one of the Panch Kedar (holy temples dedicated to the lord shiva). It is believed that after the epic Mahabharat war, the Pandavas wanted to pay reverence to lord shiva in order to make them free from their sins. Lord shiva turned into a bull in order to illude them, he divided his body into five parts to escape them. The sites where the five parts of the lord appeared are known as the Panch Kedar. these temples are kedarnath, madhyamaheshwar, tungnath, rudranath, kalpnath.          Madhyamaheshwar is the second kedar madhya means middle part. this is a 24 km long beautiful trek.
